Summer Garcia Named NAWIC National Marketing Chair

Thomas Concrete is proud to announce that Summer Garcia, Inside Sales Manager for the Atlanta Division, has been appointed as the National Marketing Chair for the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) for the 2024-2025 term.

The National Association of Women in Construction, established in 1953, supports women’s success in the construction industry. With over 120 chapters in the U.S., NAWIC offers networking, professional development, and advocacy to promote the role of women in construction.

Professional Journey

Summer started her journey in real estate before moving to the construction industry when she joined Thomas Concrete in 2016. With a solid background in customer service, Summer transitioned smoothly into her role at Thomas Concrete. Starting as a sales coordinator, she quickly grasped the industry’s nuances. Her desire to grow led her to join various committees at Thomas Concrete, including those focused on marketing and event planning, further honing her skills and her network. In 2021, Summer was promoted to the position of Inside Sales Manager, a role she continues to manage with enthusiasm and dedication. Here, she oversees customer interactions from individual and smaller accounts, managing high-volume communications and ensuring top-tier service.

Challenges and Leadership Style

Managing a diverse customer base presents unique challenges, including maintaining high service standards and managing a busy team. Summer’s approach to leadership is hands-on, utilizing her in-depth understanding of sales coordination to support her team effectively.

“Understanding how we operate administratively gives me insight into how we continue to develop as a department,” Summer explains, emphasizing her commitment to team growth and customer satisfaction.

Role and Goals at NAWIC

Summer’s engagement with NAWIC began three years ago, inspired by the organization’s commitment to fostering a supportive network for women in construction. As the new National Marketing Chair, Summer aims to enhance chapter communications and maintain brand consistency. Her goals include implementing a marketing competition to encourage innovative approaches across NAWIC chapters.

“Becoming the National Marketing Chair is an absolute honor,” says Summer. “I look forward to serving my fellow members while also promoting NAWIC through steady vision and brand consistency.”

Her efforts support Thomas Concrete’s mission of excellence and innovation, while also advancing NAWIC’s objectives of empowerment and professional growth for women in construction.

Looking Ahead

Summer is enthusiastic about her term with NAWIC and is committed to making a significant impact. Her leadership is expected to bring fresh perspectives to NAWIC’s initiatives and provide a model of professional development and advocacy that aligns with Thomas Concrete’s values of leadership and service.
