Concrete is a complex product. It requires a lot of experience, extensive knowledge, and even finesse to develop concrete for the unique buildings and structures we see around us. We at Thomas Concrete Group have extensive experience in developing the optimal concrete for many different projects with widely varying requirements. Together with our customers, we contribute to building a sustainable society.
The North Hills Expansion JCP Parking Deck in Raleigh, NC, is a significant component of the larger North Hills Main District redevelopment project, replacing the old JCPenney at North Hills Mall. This commercial project, completed in May 2023, involved the construction of a new parking deck and two buildings. Brasfield & Gorrie, along with United Forming, were the primary contractors responsible for delivering this extensive development, which utilized 40,390 cubic yards of concrete.

Thomas Concrete played a crucial role by providing advanced concrete solutions tailored to the project’s technical demands. The deck pours utilized the maturity method for post-tensioned high-strength concrete, ensuring optimal curing and strength development. Additionally, environmentally friendly CarbonCure mixes were employed, contributing to sustainability efforts. The majority of the project required high-performance 7000 psi deck mixes, demonstrating our capability to meet rigorous structural requirements. This project highlights Thomas Concrete’s commitment to innovation, quality, and sustainability in large-scale commercial construction.
