Program Overview (4 Weeks)
Week 1 – Classroom Training
- Preparation for CDL Class B written exam
- Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Students are responsible for:
- $45 DDS application fee
- $20 permit fee (paid at DDS on written exam day)
Weeks 2, 3 & 4 – Hands-on Training
- Mixer truck operation
- Pre-trip inspection training
- Manual transmission shifting instruction
- Road test scheduled with GA Driving Services
- Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Thomas Concrete will:
- Provide a company truck for the road test
- Pay for the road test exam
Students are responsible for:
- $20 CDL Class B license fee
Employment After Completion
Upon successful completion, trainees will join Thomas Concrete as a Georgia Area Concrete Delivery Professional Trainee
Week 5 – On-the-Job Training
You will report to an assigned plant location near you to train with a Driver Trainer. Upon successful sign-off by your Driver Trainer, you will be assigned your own truck and transition to a Monday – Saturday work schedule.
Pay Progression
- $15.00/hour during training (until CDL is obtained)
- $18.54/hour once CDL Class B is received
- $21.50/hour after 6 months (effective 10/19/2026)
- $25.50/hour or more annual increase (effective 4/19/2027)

Program Agreement
Students will sign a 12-month contract to repay $2,500 for tuition and equipment (non-refundable).
- Weekly payroll deduction: $48.08 for 52 weeks
- Deductions begin once CDL Class B license is obtained
Tuition Reimbursement Opportunity
- $1,250 reimbursed at your 2nd anniversary
- Remaining $1,250 reimbursed at your 3rd anniversary (employment must be continuous to qualify)
Minimum Requirements
- Valid Georgia Driver’s License with clear MVR
- Must be 21 years or older
- Steady work history
- Mechanical background required
- Non-CDL truck driving experience is a plus
