Say hello to Joanna Moak!
When did you start working at Thomas Concrete Inc.?
I started in August 1996.
What was your first role and what is your role today?
My first role was as an administrative assistant. Today, I work as a Senior Design Team Coordinator.
“I’ve had the opportunity to grow, change roles, and learn a lot.”

What does a typical workday look like for you?
I work in the Technical Services department and have done so since the beginning. I prepare documentation for customers for sold projects and assist my colleagues with various administrative tasks. I also keep digital records organized.
Tell us a little about yourself.
I’m 66 years old and live in Lilburn, Georgia, about 11 kilometers from our office in Doraville. I’m a wife, mother, grandmother, and sister to five. In my free time, I enjoy crafts and various DIY projects.
Share a strong memory from your years at the company.
After 12 years at Thomas, we moved into our new lab. Shortly after, in 2008, the financial crisis hit and many were laid off. Our department went from 18 people to 7. It was a tough time, but when the economy turned around, we were able to grow again. Today, we’re back to 18 people on the team.
How has the company changed since you started?
Technology has evolved tremendously. When I started, we used fax machines and paper archives. Today, everything is digital. Communication happens via email and mobile, and we have more employees.
What has made you enjoy your work and stay so long?
I’ve had the opportunity to grow, change roles, and learn a lot. The environment is pleasant and the team spirit is strong. I’ve worked with amazing colleagues for many years, and that’s made me want to stay.
