Ryan Chandley to Assume CEO Role at Thomas Concrete

Thomas Concrete Group is pleased to announce that Ryan Chandley will assume the role of CEO at Thomas Concrete Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of the Swedish-owned Thomas Concrete Group, effective July 1. This leadership transition comes as Alan Wessel, a respected and impactful leader who has served as CEO for over 11 years, prepares to retire.

Strategic leadership and growth

“We continue to pursue strong growth in the U.S. market, where Ryan has been a driving force during his seven years in the company,” says Hans Karlander, CEO and President of Thomas Concrete Group AB. The U.S. represents a crucial market for Thomas Concrete, operating 85 concrete plants and accounting for approximately 65 percent of the Group’s total revenue.

A legacy of leadership

Reflecting on his tenure, Alan Wessel shared a message with team members, “This decision comes with a mix of emotions – gratitude for the incredible journey we’ve shared in Team Thomas and excitement for the opportunities ahead. I am very proud of everything we have accomplished together. Your dedication, innovation, and passion have made Thomas Concrete what it is today.”

Meet the new CEO: Ryan Chandley

Ryan Chandley, an MBA graduate with over 25 years in the concrete industry, has held several key operational and commercial positions. He joined Thomas Concrete in 2017 as Sales Manager and was promoted to Senior Vice President of the Georgia Division four years later. In this role, he has led business development efforts and customer focus initiatives that have delivered significant performance improvements.

“Ryan’s leadership is characterized by a strong focus on safety, improved processes, and profitability. He challenges the norm and encourages team members to think creatively, constantly seeking new solutions and more efficient ways of working,” says Karlander. “His positive attitude is contagious and makes others grow – making him the natural successor for the CEO role.”

Continued commitment

Alongside Ryan’s appointment as CEO, Fredrik Höglund, the company’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), will expand his role with a clear focus on strategic initiatives and driving priorities. The two will work closely together and lead Team Thomas towards the company’s vision of being perceived as the best in the industry.

“After more than 11 years of a fantastic leadership, deep commitment and contagious enthusiasm, we’re happy that Alan will remain involved as a strategic advisor also after his retirement. It has been a great pleasure working together and I would like to pass on a sincere thank you to Alan for his impressive contributions to the company,” says Hans Karlander.

Looking ahead

Please join us in congratulating Alan on his remarkable tenure and in welcoming Ryan to his new role.
