Thomas Concrete Announces Acquisition of Former Ford’s Redi-Mix Concrete Plant Assets in Charleston Market

Thomas Concrete announced today the acquisition of the Charleston and Ladson concrete plant assets formerly operated as Ford’s Redi-Mix Concrete, a company that has served the Coastal South Carolina market for more than 80 years.

The assets will integrate seamlessly into Thomas Concrete’s existing Charleston footprint, enhancing production capacity, improving logistics, and supporting continued growth in the Coastal Carolinas construction market.

As part of the transaction, William Ford, former owner of Ford’s Redi-Mix Concrete, will join Thomas Concrete in a commercial sales role, bringing decades of local market experience and trusted customer relationships.

William Ford commented, “For more than eight decades, Ford’s Redi-Mix has been built on relationships, reliability, and a deep commitment to this community. Joining Thomas Concrete allows that legacy to continue with a partner who shares the same values of quality, service, and long-term investment in the people and projects that shape the Lowcountry.”

Henry Martin, Senior Vice President of the Carolinas for Thomas Concrete, said, “Adding the Ford’s assets to our existing network of plants in Charleston greatly increases our ability to service the entire market. Bringing William Ford onto our commercial sales team is very exciting, and I look forward to the experience and knowledge he’ll add to an already outstanding team in the Charleston area.”

Ryan Chandley, CEO of Thomas Concrete, added, “This acquisition reflects our long-term commitment to the Charleston market and our focus on building strong, local partnerships. Integrating these assets allows us to better support our customers while honoring the legacy of a company that has served this region for generations.”

Thomas Concrete continues to invest strategically in markets where growth, infrastructure, and long-term community development align with the company’s commitment to quality, service, and sustainability.
