Collaboration for a more sustainable future

Concrete is the most widely used building material in the world. It´s a flexible material with many advantages. Concrete is durable, long-lasting, and is resistant to extreme weather, fire, moisture, and mold.

Additionally, it is 100% recyclable. Lesser-known is that concrete, just like trees, absorbs carbon dioxide from the air – a natural process called carbonation – during its lifetime. Concrete is a fantastic material with endless possibilities!

At the same time, the construction industry, along with the cement and concrete sectors, must transition to climate neutrality, and this pace needs to accelerate while maintaining competitiveness. Building with low-carbon concrete is the single most important measure to reduce the construction industry’s climate impact.

Low-carbon concrete has a lower carbon footprint than traditional concrete, while maintaining the same high – sometimes even higher – quality, function, and performance.

Cement, traditionally used as a binder in concrete, presents the greatest challenge when it comes to carbon emissions in concrete production. In low-carbon concrete, we replace portions of the cement with alternative binders and optimize the total amount of binders in the mix. Meanwhile, our research and development continue toward achieving net-zero concrete construction.

To make choosing and using low-carbon concrete easier, we continually develop our Green Offer. Today, we see a growing awareness and demand for THOMAGREEN®, our low-carbon concrete.

Effective collaboration between all parties in the design stage, including concrete manufacturers, is key to achieving net-zero concrete construction.

In the design stage, we must always
• Choose low-carbon concrete
• Use the right concrete in the right place
• Opt for resource-efficient structures

As The Concrete Specialists, we are committed to sharing our knowledge and expertise through the entire construction project.

Together, let’s unlock the enormous potential of low-carbon concrete and accelerate the construction industry’s transition!
