High-Performance / Infrastructure

High-Strength Concrete, HSC

High-strength concrete is known for its exceptionally high compressive strength, typically exceeding 6000psi, and engineered to withstand heavy loads and harsh environmental conditions.

Applications: high-rise buildings, bridges, dams and other projects with high structural demands

High-early strength concrete gains strength at an accelerated rate in its initial curing stages compared to conventional concrete mixes. This can be achieved using chemical admixtures, adjustments to cementitious materials, or lowering of water to cement ratios.

Applications: construction projects where quick formwork removal or early loading is required

Low Shrinkage Concrete is designed to minimize or mitigate the shrinkage that occurs during the curing process, which can result from a loss of moisture as water evaporates, leading to a reduction in volume. Excessive shrinkage can cause cracking, which compromises the durability and aesthetics of the concrete.

Applications: commonly used in applications where minimizing cracking and maintaining structural integrity are crucial, such as in bridge decks, industrial floors, and other infrastructure projects.

Slip-form concrete is a continuous, automated method used to pour and shape concrete structures, particularly vertical structures like towers, silos, and walls. It involves the use of a formwork system that moves vertically as the concrete is poured and sets, allowing for seamless construction without the need for manual formwork adjustments.

Applications: tall, uniform structures with minimal joints

A high modulus of elasticity means the material is less elastic and more rigid, exhibiting minimal deformation under applied loads. A high MOE can also effectively dissipate and distribute dynamic loads and vibrations from an earthquake and help mitigate resonance effects, decreasing the amplification of seismic forces within the structure.

Mass concrete refers to a type of concrete construction where large volumes of concrete are poured at once to form massive structural elements. Design considerations should include control of heat gain and heat dissipation to ensure long-term stability.

Applications: infrastructure and industrial projects where large, monolithic components are needed to support heavy loads and resist environmental forces

High performance concrete designed to accelerate the drying process and reduce internal moisture content. This type of concrete employs self-desiccation to achieve rapid drying times, promoting early strength development and reducing the risk of moisture-related issues.

Applications: fast track construction projects and areas where quick drying and early strength gain are essential

Roller-Compacted Concrete (RCC) is a durable, low-moisture concrete mixture that is compacted in place using heavy vibratory rollers.

Applications: pavement, highways, dam construction, military applications, industrial facilities

Heavy-weight concrete contains dense aggregates, such as hematite, magnetite, barite, or iron ore to achieve higher density and greater mass per unit volume compared to standard concrete mixes.

Applications: scenarios where increased density, stability, or radiation shielding capabilities are required, such as counterweights for bridges and heavy machinery, nuclear facilities and hospitals, and ballasting for underwater pipelines

Thomafill is a controlled, low-strength, proprietary blend of sand and cementitious material that is self-compacting and designed to flow easily into place, filling spaces and cavities without the need for mechanical compaction.

Applications: backfill, void filling, utility bedding, duct banks


Environmental Factors

Waterproof / Watertight Concrete

Watertight concrete is design to prevent the ingress of water and resist water pressure. Typical characteristics include low permeability, high density, crack resistance and enhanced durability.

Applications: basements, tunnels, swimming pools, water tanks, and marine structures

Pervious concrete, also known as permeable concrete, is a special type of concrete with a high porosity that allows water to pass through it.

Applications: areas where stormwater management and groundwater recharge are important; can be used to reduce urban heat island effect and provide pavement for driveways, walkways and parking lots where permeability is beneficial

Acid-resistant concrete is a type of concrete specifically formulated to withstand exposure to acidic environments, where traditional concrete would typically degrade. It typically includes special types of cement, such as calcium aluminate cement (CAC), or acid-resistant cement.

Applications: industrial settings, wastewater treatment plants, sewer systems, chemical storage areas, and other areas where acids are present

Underwater concrete is designed to be placed, cured, and used in underwater environments, and features enhanced cohesiveness, anti-washout properties, and durability. It is formulated to minimize aggregate segregation and enable the construction and repair of underwater environments.

Applications: construction of piers, docks, breakwaters, underwater portions of bridges

Freeze-thaw concrete is designed to withstand the cyclic freezing and thawing conditions that can cause significant damage to conventional concrete. Air entraining admixtures are incorporated to create a network of tiny, uniformly distributed air bubbles within the concrete. These air bubbles provide relief spaces for the expansion of freezing water, preventing internal pressure build-up.

Easy Handling, Better Work Environment

Self-Consolidating Concrete, SCC

Self-Consolidated Concrete (SCC) is a highly flowable and stable concrete that compacts itself without the need for mechanical vibration.

Applications: complex formwork with intricate shapes, precast concrete, architectural concrete, repair and retrofitting

Lightweight concrete incorporates lightweight aggregates or air bubbles to reduce its density while maintaining adequate strength and durability. It is a versatile material that offers reduced structural load, improved thermal insulation, and ease of handling compared to conventional concrete.

Applications: roofs, decks, sandwich panels, bridge decks

Thomafiber is concrete reinforced with either synthetic or steel fibrous material to enhance its structural integrity. The fibers help control cracking due to plastic shrinkage and drying shrinkage, and they also improve the concrete’s overall toughness and durability.

Applications: industrial floors and pavements, residential and commercial buildings, driveways, infrastructure

Wall concrete is designed to offer a smoother, more refined finish for vertical survaces. This typ of concrete ensures an asthetically pleasing and durable surface, ideal for exposed concrete walls and architectural features.

Applications: exposed concrete walls, retaining walls, architectural features such as columns, beams, and panels, interior walls, and custom concrete furniture and fixtures
