In May of 2009 Thomas Concrete opened a new state of the art laboratory. The new lab was built to provide quality assurance to our customers and industry. Recently we invited Pruitt Eberly Stone, Inc. Structural Engineers to tour our Lab and Plant at our Doraville location. The tour included Nine engineers which included two Principals and the COO. John Cook and Don Blair guided the Technical Services Lab tour while Kevin Parsons and Glenn Bowers assisted with the plant tour.
Some of the discussion topics during the tours involved potential specification changes that could allow more economical mixtures with less impact on our plants and environment. Due to the very positive response, we intend to invite other Engineering firms to provide exposure to concrete operations and to improve relationships and specifications that should pay dividends for all. We strongly feel that these benefits are what was intended with the investment made in the lab, the plant and the people.
